Traveling during long holiday season

If you are traveling during the long holiday season, we recommend the use of public transport to avoid the possible delay by the traffic congestion or shortage of parking lots.

  • To passengers with departure flight from Tokyo (Haneda) Airport
    • JAL flights depart from Terminal 1.
    • The airport area will be very crowded during the long holiday season. Long waiting time for parking is expected. We recommend passengers to use public transport and spare enough traveling time to the airport.

Traveling during long holiday season

If you are traveling during the long holiday season, please arrive at the security checkpoint at least 30 minutes prior to your flight's scheduled departure time.

You may not be permitted for boarding if you arrive at the security checkpoint less than 20 minutes before departure time.
To ensure on-time departure for all passengers, please arrive at the boarding gate at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

You are required to arrive by the following time limits. Late passengers may not be accepted for boarding.

  • Security checkpoint:

    the aircraft begins to move.

    If you have connecting flights on the same day, minimum connecting time (MCT) must be secured at the time of your reservation. Please understand that under the unexpected circumstances such as flight disruption, successful connection may not be guaranteed even your flight reservation meets the following required connecting time.

    If you have a domestic-international transfer operated by the JAL group on the same day, you are able to check-in your international flight at your departing domestic airport.
    Please make sure to check-in at the domestic counter at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure with your e-ticket number or reservation number. (60 minutes prior when traveling via Haneda/Narita airport)
    If you check-in at the domestic counter, you may proceed to the international departing gate directly at the connecting airport.

    • *Through check-in between codeshare flight and JAL Group flight is not available.Baggage can be through checked from the departure airport to the destination.

Checking in baggage

Please check in your baggage as soon as possible so that you can proceed through the security checkpoint at least 20 minutes prior to your flight's scheduled departure time.

About baggage and carry-on items

Carry-on baggage must be within size, weight and piece limits.
Please check in any items over the limit at the airport counter.
Please properly stow your baggage in the designated space in cabin by yourself.
In case the baggage cannot be stowed, we will keep it in the cargo compartment.

Save your waiting time at the check-in counter by using JAL Express-Tag Service, which is available at Tokyo (Haneda) Airport, Osaka (Itami) Airport, Sapporo (New Chitose) Airport, Fukuoka Airport and Naha Airport.

Security check

Security check is strictly performed to ensure flight safety.
If you plan to travel with such items as golf clubs or any types of blades, you are required to put them in your checked baggage. Should any of the prohibited carry-on articles be found at a security checkpoint, you would have to return to the check-in counter for checking them in, or alternatively to relinquish them at the security checkpoint. Please also note that some designated items are prohibited by the law as neither carry-on nor checked baggage.

Tips for security checkpoint clearance

  • Pay attention to the size of your carry-on baggage as they will be screened by the inspection machine with a gauge installed at the security checkpoint. If the size of your items does not fit in for screening, you are required to return to the check-in counter for checking them in.
  • Take out the metal items (mobile phone, keys, coins, etc.), lap top PC and bottled liquids in advance as they need to be placed in the tray provided for security check.

  • After boarding, please store your carry-on baggages and take your seat as quickly as you can and fasten your seat belt.
  • If you need to go to the restroom, please do so before boarding. After the aircraft start moving, please refrain from using the restroom until the seat belt sign goes off.
  • Switch off the electronic devices when it is required by the flight attendants. *1
  • Watch the Safety Video and read the Safety Instructions prior to take-off.
  • Return your seat reclining and table to the original position during take-off or landing.
