About seat selection

Seat selection is available up to 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of your flight.

  • Select seats when booking your flights.
  • If you are booking a flight departing within 2 days, please select seat after ticket purchase.
  • Infant’s seat icon will be shown for seats for infant.

If you have purchased your domestic flight ticket and selected your seat, you may directly go for boarding by "JAL Touch & Go", without checking in at the airport.

How to select a seat

You may select your seats at the time of booking your flights or afterward.

  • If you have a flight booking, please select seat from the "Manage booking (domestic)" button.

Why can't I select a seat?

Please note that not all seats are available for advance selection because some seats are reserved for passengers who may need additional care on boarding the aircraft, or for adjusting the weight balance of the plane. Also note that the range of seats offered for advance selection is determined by the fare applied to your ticket.
If you cannot select a seat in advance, please try again 48 hours before the scheduled departure time.

More seats may become available 48 hours before the scheduled depature time.

  • Not all seats or fares are eligible for pre-selection.

On the day of departure

Select your seats at the Self Service Check-in KIOSK or at the airport check-in counter. Please complete your seat selection at least 20 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure time.

Notes about seat selection

Open
  • Seat selection is not available on codeshare flights with Oriental Air Bridge (ORC) via the JAL website or the JAL Call Center (Domestic Reservation and Information). Please proceed to the check-in counter on the departure date.
  • Seat selection is available up to 24 hours prior to flight departure for flights operated by Fuji Dream Airlines (FDA) and up to 1 hour prior to flight departure for flights operated by Amakusa Airline (AMX). Please proceed to the check-in counter on the departure date if you could not select seat by the deadline.
  • Pre-selected seat numbers may change or cancel without prior notice, in case of aircraft configuration change or other reasons (Please understand we cannot promise to assign the seat next to you for your companion.).
  • You will be notified by e-mail or SMS in case of seat number change.
  • Priority seats at the back row of Class J cabin are recommended to Class J passengers flying with children under 3 years of age.
  • Seats exclusive for passengers traveling with 2 infants can be selected onlline.

Request to passengers assigned to an emergency exit row seat. (*Please read.)

In accordance with a directive issued by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, from April 1, 2009, for the safety of all passengers, emergency exit seats will be limited to passengers that satisfy all the conditions below.

  1. Aged 15 years or above (assignment is not permitted for minors under 15 years of age).
  2. Does not require the assistance of an escort or staff.
  3. Is capable of assisting in an emergency evacuation, such as opening or closing an aircraft door.
  4. Can understand evacuation procedures and crew's instructions, and verbally convey such information to other passengers.
  5. Does not have to assist an accompanying passenger in an emergency evacuation.*
  6. Consents to providing assistance in an emergency evacuation.

Passengers who do not satisfy conditions 1 through 6 above will be asked to change to another seat.
To ensure quick evacuation of the aircraft, passengers seated in emergency exit rows will be asked to assist during an emergency evacuation by following the instructions of the cabin crew. Carry-on baggage must not be placed at your feet or on your lap during takeoff or landing. We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Small children (domestic flights: under eight years old; international flights: under 12 years old) and their companions are not eligible to use emergency exit row seats.
