JAL has brought onboard OKOSHI Motohiro, who has made his mark far and wide as a wine taster and wine director. Under his advisement, JAL have carefully selected wines that we invite you to pair with your meal and enjoy.

Some selections were awarded Gold, Silver medals from the world knowned wine competition, International Wine Challenge.

    Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Joined the service industry after working as bartender. Facinated by wines, he went to France and on returning to Japan, acquired a sommelier qualification in 2000. After participating in competitions and achieving experiences, he went to France again from 2006 for 2.5 years to deepen his understanding of wines. He continues to visit wineries and producers and communicate the essense of wines as Japan's first wine taster. Also knowledgeable of Japanese sake and sochu, which he highly acclaimed for creating the perfect match of wine, Japanese sake and cuisine.

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs N.V.

Delamotte, established in 1760, is the sister maison of "Salon," the most sought-after champagne in the world. In years when a "Salon"vintage, made from 100% Grand CruChardonnay grapes that constitute a mere 5% of the entire production, is not produced, the grapes are utilized for this Blanc de Blancs. With refreshing, inviting flavors of citrus and golden-brown toast, you'll unwind with this champagne and it is versatile enough to be enjoyed not only as an aperitif, but also as an elegant accompaniment to your meal.

Albert Bichot Mâcon-Lugny Les Charmes 2018

Albert Bichot is a famous negotiant in Bourgogne that specializes in this region’s wines.Aromas conjure up Muscat and flavors remind you of citrus. Savor the clean, pure palate of this cordial dry wine and its fresh acidity, all the way to the delightfully crisp afternote.

Meyer Näkel Pinot Noir Edition Old Vines 2018

One of the smallest wine-producing areas in the world is situated in the northernmost part of the Ahr region in western Germany at a latitude of 50 degrees north, considered to be the northern limit for wine cultivation. Meyer Näkel is among the top producers of Pinot Noir here. Vivacious blackberry aromas and nuances of cloves will delight your palate. Savor the charming, generous flavors of fruit and fresh acidity, all well-balanced with this rare wine’s light tannins.

Château Mercian Moegi 2019

Wine connoisseurs throughout the world have evaluated Château Mercian highly in the past few years, proof of the excellent quality of Japanese wines.
This Moegi 2019 features apple and pear aromas with a hint of cinnamon. Gentle, velvety and tempting, slightly rich on your palate, with a well-balanced harmony between the fresh acidity and flavors.
Japanese citrus comes to mind as you savor this dry wine through to the afternote.

Kamokinshu Junmai Daiginjo JAL Original

Thanks to the expansive afternote derived from the nature of the water used in the brewing process and the Koji preparation method that draws out the quintessential features of the rice, this Junmai Daiginjo boasts a resolute Umami atypical for itslow alcohol content. Savor thisJAL original’sjuicy flavor, harmony between sweetness, acidity and bitterness, plus a tender aroma inherent to Ginjo-shu. You can also sense a freshness caused by the faintly bubbling residual carbon dioxide leftover after the fermentation.
