The new Entry/Exit System (EES) will start operations on 12 October 2025. 
European countries using the EES will introduce the system gradually at their external borders. 
This means that data collection will be gradually introduced at border crossing points with full implementation by 10 April 2026.

Documents required for entry
Required documents Description
VISA Japanese passport holders are permitted to enter the country without a visa provided that the duration of stay is no longer than 3 months.
Passport Germany and other Schengen Zone countries require visitors to hold a passport that has at least 3 months' validity from the date of departure.
A return flight ticket or e-ticket Please bring it.

Customs

Duty-free applies to tobacco and alcohol purchases by passengers aged 17 and above, and coffee purchases by passengers aged 15 and above.
If your goods are not in excess of the duty-free limit, please proceed to the green customs lane. Otherwise, please proceed through the red customs lane and make a verbal declaration of the goods you are bringing in.

Pets

Prior reservation is necessary if you wish to bring your pet, as the transportation environment within the aircraft needs to be prepared.

Please also be sure to check with the embassy or quarantine station at your destination for animal quarantine information such as import restrictions and required documentation.

Departure regulations

Check-in

・Check-in is available at counters 817 to 818 in Terminal 2, Hall D.

・Counter check-in begins 3 hours and 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
 Until then, staffed counters are closed, so please use the self-check-in machines and Self Baggage Drop.

・Self Baggage Drop is available from 19 hours up to 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time. 
 Please use this in conjunction with online check-in and Self Service Check-in Kiosk.

・The following procedures are only available at the counters.
 If you require any of these services, please be sure to visit counter 817 or 818:
 - VAT refund procedures
 - Ticket changes
 - Payment for excess baggage
 - Checking in oversized baggage or pets
 - Upgrades

・If you need to complete VAT refund procedures or similar services,
 please first print your baggage tag at the self-check-in machine, then proceed to the counter.

Security check

A security check is carried out after passport control in Terminal 2.

  • *Please note that Zippo-type oil lighters are not accepted in checked baggage or carry-on baggage at this airport.

Customs

  • *You may be asked to present the goods for inspection during the duty-free check. There can sometimes be a long wait, so please ensure that you allow plenty of time.
  • *If you are returning to Japan via transfer from another EU country, you will need to carry out customs procedures at the airport from which your Japan-bound flight departs. It is still possible that you may be asked to present the items for inspection, so please ensure that you do not put them in your checked baggage on the connecting flight.
