Please present your passport to the official, and your completed I-736 as well if entering with Guam-CNMI Visa Waiver Program.

Required documents Description
VISA

Guam has two types of visa waiver programs, and Japanese citizens are eligible for both.

1. United States Visa Waiver Program
Japan is an eligible country under the United States Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
Japanese passport holders are permitted to enter the country without a visa provided that the duration of stay is up to 90 days, and the purpose of travel is tourism or business.

2. Guam-CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) Visa Waiver Program
Japan is an eligible country under the Guam-CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) Visa Waiver Program.
Japanese passport holders are permitted to enter the country without a visa provided that the duration of stay is up to 45 days, and the purpose of travel is tourism or business. (You are not required to apply for ESTA (*1) beforehand, but you will need to complete 2 immigration cards if you do not.)

Depending on the purpose of visit (study, work, etc.), a visa or additional documentation may be required.
Please contact the US Embassy for further information.
(Example: A visa and supplementary documentation (I-20) are required if the purpose of the visit is study.)

US permanent residents and conditional permanent residents must show their permanent resident or conditional permanent resident cards (Green Card/I-551).

Passport

A machine-readable passport (MRP) or an IC passport (IC chipped) valid until the date of return to your home country.

Immigration card
1. Not required under the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
2. Under the Guam-CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) Visa Waiver Program, you are required to complete forms I-736 (white immigration card) .
Forms I-736 can be obtained in advance from the USCBP website (search for "Form I-736").
Customs declaration form Customs declaration form (required whether or not there is anything to declare) . "GUAM Electronic Declaration Form" is available from 72 hours before departure time.
Return ticket or e-ticket Please bring it.
Additional information:
  • When proceeding through Immigration, you will be fingerprinted and photographed.
  • If you are entering Guam without a visa and plan to travel directly from there to the US mainland or Hawaii, please do so under the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

Customs

Please show your passport and customs declaration form.
If you are within the limits of tax-free imports, you can pass through Customs easily.
After obtaining an "F" (free) stamp at the first inspection, hand the customs declaration form to another official waiting at the exit, and proceed outside to the lobby.

  • IMPORTANT
    • If you are bringing in currency in excess of US$10,000, this must be declared. In case of any omission, the items will be confiscated in full and you may be liable for personal or criminal charges.

Quarantine (Animals And Plants)

The customs inspection also serves as Quarantine. You are forbidden from bringing in animals, plants, fruit, drugs, etc.

Pets

Prior reservation is necessary if you wish to bring your pet, as the transportation environment within the aircraft needs to be prepared.

Security check

After you have completed the check-in procedure, please proceed to Concourse Level 2. There you will undergo a security inspection before proceeding to your departure gate. You are limited to one item of carry-on baggage.
