[SEOUL] GIMPO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Checks are carried out using infra-red cameras, and there is no need to submit a questionnaire. There are usually no issues with quarantine if you are arriving in Gimpo International Airport  from Japan.

Japanese citizens generally do not require a visa to enter Korea for sightseeing purposes if the duration of stay is 90 days or less.
After arrival, please proceed from the passenger terminal bridge to Immigration on level 2. Please fill in the required information on the arrivals card handed out on the aircraft, and present it along with your passport to the immigration officer.

  ■Introduction of the e-Arrival card■
  To simplify the immigration procedures, the e-Arrival card was introduced from February 24, 2025.

  【Overview】
  ○ Eligible Users：Same as those who are required to submit a paper arrival card(Visa holders, K-ETA exempt individuals, etc.)
  ※ Note: Holders of a valid K-ETA or a foreigner registration card are not required to submit an arrival card.
  ○ Application Period：From 72 hours before arrival at Seoul Gimpo International Airport until before undergoing immigration inspection.
  ○ Application Method：Apply via PC or mobile (www.e-arrivalcard.go.kr)

  ■Extension of the temporary exemption period for the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA)(Updated on December 26, 2025)■

  K-ETA is temporarily exempted to the 22 countries/regions.
  On December 23, 2025, it was announced that "The exemption period would be extended again until December 31, 2026."
  Kindly note, passengers from exempt countries may continue to apply for K-ETA, but will be charged a fee.

  ■IMPORTANT■

  Immigration checks are rigorous, and individual travelers (but not sightseeing groups) may be required to present documents or samples explaining the reason for entering the country, so please be prepared.

Effective from May 1, 2023, submission of the Customs declaration form will be 【Optional】.
If you have nothing to declare, you do not need to submit the declaration.
If you have something to declare, please use one of the following forms.
・Customs declaration form(Paper)
・Mobile application "Korea Customs Service"

• IMPORTANT

  • Prohibition on Import and Bringing in Painkillers Containing Specific Ingredients
    There has been an increase in cases where painkillers containing "Allylisopropylacetylurea" are being seized by customs. Please pay attention when importing or bringing in medications that you normally use or have purchased.
    
  • Please ensure that you declare any expensive items you are bringing in. Although they will be tax-exempt, their serial numbers will be recorded in your passport, and checks will be made at departure to ensure that the items are still in your possession.

At the request of the Korean quarantine authorities, passengers carrying animal products such as fresh meat or meat products, and plant products such as fresh fruits must self-dispose or declare them at the quarantine counter.
Without the declaration will result in a fine of up to 10 million won.
In addition, travelers who engaged in livestock industries must report to the animal and plant quarantine agency and undergo preventative measures such as disinfection treatment.

 

Prohibited Items

【Animal・Livestock products】

Pet birds・Meat・Processed meat products such as Sausage and Ham・Eggs・Pet food etc.

【Plants and agricultural products】

Fresh fruits・Fruit vegetables・Potatoes・Unshelled walnuts・Peanuts・Seedlings・Bulbs・Soil・Plants with soil attached・living pests etc.

Even if they do not fall into the above categories,all plants and livestock products are necessary to declare them at the animal and plant quarantine  at the time of arrival. If you fail to declare them, you will be fined.

Prior reservation is necessary if you wish to bring your pet, as the transportation environment within the aircraft needs to be prepared.

Please also be sure to check with the embassy or quarantine station at your destination for animal quarantine information such as import restrictions and required documentation.

Check-in counter open

JL090    From 06:00 to 1 hour before departure time
JL092　From 2 hours 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure time
JL094　From 2 hours 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure time

The check-in counters are C counter on the 2nd floor at the international terminal.
Please present your passport and airline ticket to check in.

【NOTICE】Self Baggage Drop is available(in the center of the departure lobby)
For passenger who will onboard JL092/JL094 are able to use it from 2 hours 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure time.
Please drop your baggage at Self Baggage Drop after check-in through Online or Self Check-in machine(KIOSK).

Regarding the Baggage Size
Please note that due to airport facility restrictions, the checked baggage exceeding 200cm x 90cm x 90cm in size can not be accepted
on JAL Group flights departing from Seoul Gimpo International Airport.

All baggage will be X-rayed before Immigration.

• IMPORTANT

  • It is forbidden to take more than 100ml of liquid on board the aircraft. (Liquids under 100ml can be taken on board the aircraft inside a transparent plastic bag. One bag per person.)
  • Carriage of spray cans is generally prohibited, but you are allowed one item of up to 500ml as checked baggage if it has passed through airport security.

Please show your passport and boarding pass to an immigration officer.

• IMPORTANT

  • You do not need to declare currency unless it totals USD10,000 or more (or the equivalent in a foreign currency).
