Handling of Curling Irons and Hair Curlers

Due to instructions from the local Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the regulations regarding handling have been updated.
Please take extra caution if you plan to travel to Korea.

Types with non-removable heat source

  • Carry-on baggage: Prohibited
  • Checked baggage: Prohibited

Types with removable heat source

  • Carry-on baggage: Allowed only as carry-on (Please Declare at Check-in Counter)
  • Checked baggage: Prohibited

Types with flight mode function

  • Carry-on baggage: Allowed only as carry-on (Please Declare at Check-in Counter)
  • Checked baggage: Prohibited

Power Banks and Spare Batteries in Carry-on Baggage

Please declare at the check-in counter in the following cases:

  • Power banks and spare batteries over 100Wh up to 160Wh
  • More than 5 spare batteries (100Wh or less)

Restrictions on Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) in Carry-on Baggage

Due to instructions from the local Ministry of Land, passengers are limited to a maximum of 15 battery-powered personal electronic devices per person for carry-on. (Applicable devices include laptops, smartphones, wireless earbuds, smartwatches, tablets, e-cigarettes, etc.)

Strengthening of Short-Circuit Prevention Measures for Portable chargers (Power Banks)

Effective March 1, 2025, under the directive from the local Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, we will be checking at the check-in counters and security checkpoints to ensure that short-circuit prevention measures* for power banks are in place for passengers departing from Seoul.

  • Measures to prevent the power banks from touching other objects and short-circuiting, accidentally activating or breaking.

Please implement short-circuit prevention measures using one of the following methods.

  1. Store each battery in a separate plastic bag.
  2. Apply insulating tape to the terminals.
  3. Protect the terminals with caps.

If you are using an airline other than JAL operated, please contact the respective airline.
