Passengers transferring from Japan Airlines to non-oneworld member airlines

Boarding pass

If you do not have your connecting boarding pass, please proceed to the departure terminal for your connecting flight and carry out the check-in procedure at the connecting airline's transfer counter.

Checked baggage (Re-check)

Regardless of whether your final destination is within the US or abroad, all passengers must go through a customs inspection when entering the United States.

Even if "final destination" is stamped on the baggage tag you were given when you checked your baggage at your departure point, you are still required to collect your baggage here and proceed through Customs.

The baggage collected for the customs inspection can be deposited again at Baggage Drop Off.

  • After completing the customs inspection, please proceed to the Baggage Drop Off counter on the far right-hand side.
(Southwest Airlines (WN) passengers cannot use the Baggage Drop Off counter.)
  • Passengers who do not have a boarding pass for their connecting flight can go to their airline desk in the departures lobby to check in.

Moving between terminals

Japan Airlines (JL) flights arrive at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. (The terminal between Terminal 3 and Terminal 4.)

  • It is easy to walk to terminals 3, 4, and 5.
  • To travel to terminals 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8, please use the LAX Shuttle A (Airline Connection) shuttle bus.
It serves each terminal every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day.
The bus stop is located outside the terminal. Look for the blue sign saying "LAX Shuttle".

Passengers who would like a copy of the "JAL LAX Transfers Guide" will be handed one at Customs.

Passengers transferring from non-oneworld member airlines to Japan Airlines

  • Passengers traveling on a flight operated by American Airlines (codeshare flight with JAL) should proceed to American Airlines check-in counters in Terminal 4.

Check-in

Passengers connecting to Japan Airlines flights should go to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (level 3), and check in at the Japan Airlines check-in at A counter.

  • Even if you have a boarding pass for your Japan Airlines flight, you need to present your passport information to the Immigration Bureau in advance of your flight, so please approach the counter or a boarding gate official.

Checked baggage

If you are connecting from an airport within the United States or Canada and you checked your baggage through to your final destination at your departure point, you do not need to collect your baggage at Los Angeles International Airport, but it is necessary to verify the baggage tag you were issued upon check-in.
