    Arrival regulations

    Quarantine

    Please complete a quarantine questionnaire.
    Please be sure to include a telephone number (of your local accommodation).

    Yellow fever: If you are arriving from a contaminated area or via a contaminated area, vaccination is required.
    Malaria: Excluding urban areas, there is always a risk of malaria in areas below 600 meters above sea level.
    There are some reports that chloroquine is not effective.

    If you are bringing in fruits, vegetables and plants, regardless of quantity, you need permission from the Philippine authorities and a quarantine certificate from the country of origin.
    If you cannot provide this documentation, the goods may be confiscated.

    Immigration

    Japanese citizens do not require a visa for stays of 30 days or less if the purpose of travel is tourism.
    However, you must be in possession of a return ticket or airline ticket to a third country.

    Effective from April 15, 2023, registration for eTravel will be mandatory for all incoming passengers, including infants, regardless of nationality.
    ※Passengers with official/diplomatic passports and 9e visa holders are exempted.

    • IMPORTANT
      • Immigration checks are rigorous, and individual travelers (but not sightseeing groups) may be required to present documents or samples explaining the reason for entering the country, so please be prepared.

    Customs

    Only passengers who have something to declare need to fill out a customs declaration form.
    If you are carrying any of the items below, please make a declaration in the declaration column.

    • Living animals, plants, fish, or processed goods containing any such items (a quarantine declaration is also necessary).
    • 50,000 or more Pesos of Philippine banknotes, coins, checks, money orders, or gold certificates that can be exchanged for Pesos issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines.
    • US$10,000 or more, or the equivalent in another currency (including travelers' checks).
      (You will be required by Customs to complete a separate declaration form.)
    • Import-restricted items (VCD, DVD, communications equipment, transceivers, etc.).
    • Any of the following if for sales purposes: jewelry, electronic products, products for advertising promotions, samples of goods.

    A tax official will check the items and stamp an approval stamp.
    Your declaration form will be retained at the exit.

    Pets

    Prior reservation is necessary if you wish to bring your pet, as the transportation environment within the aircraft needs to be prepared.

    Departure regulations

    Check-in

    Check-in opens 3 hours prior to departure.

    • IMPORTANT
      • Check-in is divided up by airline, but it can take a long time.
        After check-in, please present your passport and boarding pass at the window in front of Immigration.
      • To enter the international terminal, you need to show a flight ticket that is clearly shown as valid for that day.
        Admittance will not be permitted if you have changed your flight date and this is not reflected on your ticket.
        Please ensure that you prepare a passenger-copy in advance (digital copy also acceptable).

    Immigration

    Please show your passport and boarding pass.

    Effective from April 15, 2023, for Philippine nationals will be required to register with eTravel.
    ※.Passengers with official/diplomatic passports and 9e visa holders are exempted.

     

    Carry-on baggage

    Baggage inspection will be carried out 3 times: before check-in, at Immigration and in the boarding waiting area.

    Please note that it is forbidden to take matches, lighters or umbrellas (except folding umbrellas) on board an aircraft departing the Philippines.  For matches and lighters, it is also forbidden to put in checked baggage.

    Customs

    There is a customs inspection and security check at the entrance to each concourse.

    • During the customs inspection, you will be asked in detail about any currency you have in your possession.
       Please ensure you are aware of the currency you have in advance, including foreign currency.
    • You can take up to PHP50,000 out of the Philippines.
