Notice regarding Traffic Restrictions when Foreign Head of States visit Japan between October 19-October 26

Thank you for your patronage of the JAL Group.

Foreign state officials plan to visit Japan between October 19-October 26, 2019. During this period, security will be enhanced and traffic restrictions are expected within the metropolitan areas. High volume of traffic is expected on October 22 and October 23 as foreign state officials will be visiting the area.

Since September 13, airport security has been enhanced at Haneda, Narita, and other domestic airports in Japan where the check-in process may take longer than normal.

Visitors planning on traveling through the airports are strongly recommended to travel by public transportation and to allow ample time to avoid delays due to  traffic congestion.

Flights departing from and arriving at Domestic airports may be delayed or canceled due to operations of government aircraft from each country. Please check “Flight Information” on JAL's website in advance. Flight information for your flights may be viewed from the day before departure for domestic flights and 2 days prior for international flights.

On 21 Oct 2019 and 24 Oct 2019, due to operations of government aircraft from each country, fight connection at Haneda and Narita will take longer for one or two hours than usual. Extra hours for your connection would be recommended.

In order to avoid additional flight delays due to air traffic congestion, selected flights have been canceled.

For affected customers, airline representatives and/or your travel professional will contact you to offer an alternative flight option.

If you wish to change or refund tickets of flights departing from and arriving at Haneda and Narita airport between 19 and 26 October, they will be handled in the same manner as “Changes and refunds for delays and cancellations due to weather and aircraft maintenance”. If your booking was made at travel agencies, please contact the travel agent where you booked.

If you wish to change or refund tickets of flights departing from and arriving at Haneda and Narita airport (including Domestic flights included in International tickets) between 19 and 26 October due to the possibility of flight cancellation or delay due to airport congestion, please contact JAL International Reservations and Information.

If your booking was made at non-JAL channels such as travel agencies, please contact the travel agent where you booked.

Only JAL International tickets (ticket numbers starting from 131) are applicable for special handling.
