From flights on February 20, 2025, the handling of Airport Standby and Departure date upgrade standby applications made online will change.
Please update the JAL app to the latest version and use it from February 20 onwards.
・We will notify you of the standby results via email and JAL app notification 15 to 20 minutes before departure.
・Customers who applied online can board directly using the boarding barcode on the JAL app without stopping by the Standby counter
(Depending on the application details and seat availability, you may be required to stop by the Stnadby counter.)
・For JMB members, once a seat is available through the upgrade standby, the payment process will be automatically completed online.
(Non-JMB members are required to make the payment at the standby counter.)
If your desired flight is full, you may join the standby waitlist online.

Standby opens: 3 hours prior to desired flight’s departure
Standby closes: 20 minutes prior to desired flight’s departure time

Your standby location and scheduled notification time can be found on the standby details page or in the confirmation email. Standby locations and notification times may change depending on flight status.

If seats become available, standby customers will be called by name in the below order of precedence based on their status.
If you do not respond when called, you will lose your place on the waitlist.
To cancel Airport Standby, please go to the confirmation screen on the website.

Please select "Cancel the current standby registraion and board on reserved flight"
Please select "Cancel the curent standby registration and register another flight".
After the cancellation of the Airport Standby, Please change or cancel your reservation, or apply for the Airport Standby again.
