Ticket, e-Ticket Receipt, and EMD

This page contains information on tickets for international flights.

Ticket

  1. A ticket is issued by a carrier or its authorized agent, and with its issuance it is assumed, in accordance with JAL's Condition of Carriage (International Passengers and Baggage), that an international condition of carriage has been agreed to by the airline and the customer.
    Ticket information is stored electronically, and the customer can confirm it with the e-ticket itinerary/receipt.
  2. Always abide by the order of the itinerary noted on the ticket. If the customer does not follow the itinerary in order or has a segment that will not be flown listed on the ticket, this could invalidate the ticket, including all remaining segments, and render the ticket unusable in accordance with fare regulations.
  3. Only the passenger whose name is on a ticket may use that ticket. Names cannot be changed and tickets cannot be transferred to others.
  4. You need to present the e-ticket itinerary/receipt at check-in or may be asked to present it during immigration procedures, so be sure to have it with you.

Your e-ticket itinerary/receipt is always available for viewing on the Booking Details page on the JAL website.

Please print out a copy and bring it with you on your trip.

You may be asked to present it when you enter the airport or during check-in or immigration.

EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Document)

EMD is an electronic document issued by a carrier or its authorized agent.
It is issued for fees such as services and for balances of tickets, and used as a receipt of the fee paid by the customer or toward the refund of the amount specified on EMD.
The purpose of issuance is described on the EMD passenger receipt.
Please be noted that only the passenger whose name is on an EMD may use that EMD. Names cannot be changed and EMD cannot be transferred to others.
