Through this Joint Business, JL and MH will take on new challenges to further enhance convenience between Japan and Malaysia and allow customers to benefit from more flight choices.

Combined, Japan Airlines and Malaysia Airlines offer direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai), and Fukuoka. 

At any of the three airports, customers can enjoy seamless connectivity to Japan's domestic destinations, and at Narita, to North American and other international locations as well. 

At Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia Airlines offers a wide range of flights to Malaysia’s domestic destinations.

Passengers can earn and use miles seamlessly on both carriers’ flights.

  • JMB members can earn miles on all Malaysia Airlines and JAL flights.
  • JMB Diamond, JGC Premium and other FLY ON members can earn FLY ON Program Mile-Up Bonus on Malaysia Airlines flights between Japan and Malaysia based on their membership status.

Malaysia Airlines' new A330neo

About the new A330neo

From October 8, 2025 Malaysia Airlines is introducing its newest aircraft, Airbus A330neo, on the route between Tokyo (Narita) and Kuala Lumpur. Equipped with full-flat business class seats with direct aisle access and award-winning RECARO-made economy class seats*, the new aircraft offers a new level of comfort.

  • RECARO CL3810 seat received iF Design Award 2022 and Red Dot: Best of the Best 2023 awards.

Passengers in all classes can stay connected throughout the whole flight via complimentary Wi-Fi with unlimited data.

Introduction

The new A330neo will be first introduced on flights JL7090 (Kuala Lumpur - Narita) and JL7091 (Narita - Kuala Lumpur), and later expected to be gradually expanded to other flights between Japan and Malaysia operated by Malaysia Airlines*.

  • Aircraft may change depending on the day of travel. When booking a flight on JAL website, you can check what aircraft type is planned to operate the flight on "Flight Selection" page. "339" code indicates A330neo aircraft.
