JMB handling (on/after May 1, 2020) related to LATAM Airlines’ exit from the oneworld alliance

LATAM Airlines will be leaving the oneworld alliance on May 1, 2020 (Friday).

(1) Flight Mileage Accumulation: 

JMB members can continue to accrue flight mileage on LATAM Airlines (LA/XL/4M) flights. However, codeshare flights departing on/after May 1, 2020 (Friday) that are not operated by the LATAM Airlines Group or JAL will be ineligible for flight mileage accumulation. 

(2) Award Tickets: 

  • oneworld Award Tickets: Effective from May 1, 2020 (GMT), new bookings for oneworld Award Tickets with LATAM Airlines (LA/JJ/XL/4M) flight sectors will not be accepted. Already booked/ticketed oneworld Award tickets are valid as booked. LATAM Airlines (LA/JJ/XL/4M) flight can be changed within ticket validity, but flight change will be accepted only by JMB Award Reservations Desk/JMB Center and not thru JAL Website on/after May 1, 2020.
  • LATAM Airlines Award Tickets: Award tickets can continue to be used for travel on LATAM Airlines on/after May 1, 2020.

(3) FLY ON Points:

Effective from May 1, 2020 (Friday) (departure date), FLY ON Points with LATAM Airlines (LA/XL/4M) flights will not be awarded. However, FLY ON Points will continue to be credited on/after May 1, 2020 (Friday) (departure date) for codeshare flights operated by LATAM Airlines with JAL flight numbers that are flown at fares eligible for flight mileage accrual.

(4) oneworld tier status:

  • Effective from May 1, 2020 (Friday), oneworld tier status benefits will not be available when traveling on LATAM flights due to LATAM’s exit from the oneworld alliance. However, FLY ON status members will continue to receive oneworld tier status benefits for flights departing until September 30, 2020 (Wednesday).
  • Some benefits will not be available.
  • Customers flying on codeshare flights operated by LATAM Airlines with JAL flight numbers will continue to receive FLY ON services and benefits on/after May 1, 2020 (Friday).
