Visa Information

On November 3, 2025, the Chinese government announced the extension of visa-free entry for Japanese citizens holding ordinary passports. Japanese passport holders traveling to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin and Beijing for business/trade, tourism, family visits, exchange/visits, or transit, with a stay of no more than 30 days, are exempt from visa requirements. Effective Dates:

Japan Time: November 10, 2025, 1:00 a.m. to January 1, 2027, 1:00 a.m.

Beijing Time: November 10, 2025, 0:00 a.m. to December 31, 2026, 24:00.

Online Entry Card Declaration

As of November 20, 2025, an online arrival card system has been introduced for foreign nationals. You can submit your declaration via any of the following methods. We highly recommend completing the online declaration in advance to ensure a smooth entry.

Online Declaration Methods

  • Administrative Service Platform
  • ”Immigration Administration 12367” App
  • WeChat or Alipay Mini Program
  • Scan the 2D barcode for the Entry Card application.

On-Site Declaration Methods

  • Scan the 2D barcode.
  • Use on-site smart devices.
  • Fill out a paper Foreigner Entry Card.

Declaration Exemptions

  • Holders of the People's Republic of China Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card.
  • Holders of the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (non-Chinese nationality).
  • Those entering with a group visa or visa-free as part of a group.
  • Those directly transiting within 24 hours and not leaving the port's restricted area.
  • Those entering and exiting on a cruise ship and returning on the same cruise ship.
  • Those entering through the Fast Track (Chinese: "快捷通道").
  • Foreign employees of international transportation vehicles.

Details

Health Declaration for Departure/Arrival

Effective November 1, 2023, health declarations for departure and arrival have been changed from mandatory for all to self-declaration.

 

If you have symptoms suggestive of infectious diseases, such as fever or sore throat, please declare this to customs yourself upon departure/arrival, complete the electronic health declaration, and follow the instructions of the local customs authorities.

Mask Wearing

As instructed by Chinese authorities, mask wearing is still recommended on board aircraft and within airports. Please bring your own mask.
