Japan Airlines and American Airlines Joint Service



Starting March 2020, Japan Airlines will launch four new flights from Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND) to the continental U.S., providing customers with more travel choices and easier access from all over Japan. For a limited time on Haneda-Los Angeles flights - American's signature Flagship™ First!

Flagship™ First, American Airlines' unique first-class experience on the ground and in the air, is coming to our Haneda-Los Angeles route. Passengers will enjoy a full range of premium services, including original Japanese cuisine from the famed "Kurogi" restaurant on flights from Japan. On the ground, passengers can savor full-course meals in Flagship™ First Dining before departing Los Angeles. All seats are full-flat aisle seats, offering a more relaxing, private space. Seats can also be rotated up to 90 degrees, allowing passengers in center seats to face each other for meals and conversation and those in window-side seats to face the window for a personal office-like feel.

Together, Japan Airlines' and American Airlines' trans-Pacific routes offer 16 flights daily to 9 cities. Passengers can choose their preferred carrier for each flight: American on the way there, and JAL on the way back. The JAL-American partnership provides easy access to destinations in North America as well as Central and South America and the Caribbean. Passengers also enjoy smooth connections to cities throughout Japan.

Mileage Programs

JAL's joint service with American Airlines allows passengers to earn and use miles in both mileage programs. JMB members can earn miles on American flights and exchange them for American award travel tickets.

American Airlines In-Flight Services

Flagship™ Business features full-flat seats with a total length of 195 cm. All seats provide direct aisle access, allowing passengers to come and go without disturbing their neighbors.

Japanese meals are available on Japan-US flights through a joint project with JAL. On flights originating in Japan, passengers can enjoy original Japanese cuisine designed exclusively for American Airlines by chef Jun Kurogi of Tokyo's famed "Kurogi" restaurant.
