When a member passes away, their legal heirs may inherit the remaing valid mileage in the member's mileage account by following the prescribed procedures. (JAL Mileage Bank General Terms and Conditions, Article 14)

A certified copy of the closed family register or a certified copy of the family register of the deceased person

Please note that we are unable to return the documents sent to us.
Please submit documents that confirm the death of the deceased person and the relationship of the heirs to the deceased person.
In case the heir is not on the same family register as the deceased person, a copy of the family register of the heir is also required.
A copy of the legal heir certificate is permitted to use as a register as a legal hear of the deceased person.
The legal heirs will inherit the remaining mileage.
If the legal heir is not a member of the JAL Mileage Bank, please register through the JAL Mileage Bank Top Page and send us your nine-digit account number on the agreement form.

If the deceased person was a JAL Card member with credit card functions, first contact the JAL Card Contact Center and cancel the JAL Card.
Please be reminded that we cannot accept this agreement or cancellation form before cancelling the JAL Card.

The number of eligible inheritance mileage is the number of miles valid on the postmark date. The inherited miles will be valid until the end of 36 months after the documents are approved.
If there are valid eJAL Points remaining, these points are also eligible to be inherited. The points will expire at the end of 12 months after the documents are approved.
The documents will be approved in approximately one week after the documents are confirmed at our office.
The procedures cannot be completed online.
If you have JMB partnership cards, please contact the respective partnership companies as well.
