Inside the Cabin

For your own safety and comfort, please stow your Carry-on baggage under the seat or in the overhead compartments properly.

• *If you are seated directry behind screen, emergency exit or cabin separating wall and do not have a seat in front of you, your carry-on baggage may not be placed at your feet.
• *If you are travelling on Business Class <JAL Shell Flat Seat> or Premium Economy <JAL Sky Shell Seat> , carry on baggage may not be placed under the seats in front of you upon departure and arrival. Please use the overhead compartments for stowage.

Electronic devices categorized under the Civil Aeronautics Act in Japan as dangerous items for air transportation is shown below. Please switch off restricted electronic devices when cabin attendants request to do so after passenger entry door is closed.
Those who break the law may be subject to fine of up to 500,000 yen. (Civil Aeronautics Law, Enforcement, Article 164-15)
Also, please switch off electronic devices in your checked baggage.

Permitted while passenger entry door is open

Electronic devices that emit electronic signals: cell phones, PHS, transceivers, radio-controlled toys, wireless headphones, wireless earphones, wireless microphones, battery powered IC tags, personal computers (PC), personal digital assistants (PDA), electronic game machines, wireless PC peripherals, wireless pedometers, wireless heart rate monitors, wristwatches with wireless functions, wireless keys.

Permitted while passenger entry door is open and during flight (*)

All of the above-mentioned items even in a non-electronic signals-emitting setting, TVs, radios, pagers, GPS receivers, video cameras, video players, DVD players, digital cameras, digital audio equipment, wired & battery type headphones, wired & battery type earphones, word processors, electronic organizers, electronic dictionaries, printers, battery chargers, toys with voice or touch activated speakers and monitors.

• (*) From the time when seat belt sign is turned off or when the announcement allowing the use of electronic devices is made, to the time announced before landing that the use of electronic devices is prohibited.
• - Company rules restrict the use of electronic devices other than the items mentioned above.
• - Personal computers (PC), personal electronic devices, and electronic game machines must be connected to JAL wireless LAN service to be used during flight.
• - Do not apply strong impacts to any electronic devices containing lithium-ion secondary batteries. (e.g. stepping upon, dropping into gaps of the seat, etc.) This may deform the battery and break the protection circuit built into the battery and cause overheating, explosion or fire.
• - Cabin attendants may ask you to refrain from using electronic devices when there is a passenger who use pacemakers or other medical devices around you.
• - Please be thoughtful of passengers around you when you use the cell phone in cabin.

If either one of your flight is operated by Japan Airlines(JAL) and other by British Airways for Tokyo-London itinerary, JAL's free bagagge allowance will be applied through both flight.

• Note: As cargo space is limited on each type of aircraft, please understand that we may be unable to load all checked baggage on the flight.
• Note: It will be refused to carry as Checked Baggage in case it is not properly packed in a suitcase or other suitable container to ensure safe carriage and conveyance by the baggage belt. If the baggage consists of two or more parts, it should be packed or wrapped wholly and securely to avoid the separation.Otherwise, it cannot be checked-in as 1piece as that may damage other baggages or the airport facility.

Excess Baggage

For baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance, an excess baggage charge applies under JAL regulations.

• Note: Only dogs, cats, certain household birds, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, squirrels, and chinchillas are acknowledged by JAL as "Pets".

Bulky Baggage, Musical Instruments

If your baggage is oversized or overweight, it may not be accepted on our flights because the space in cargo compartment is limited. Please consult withJAL International reservation or your travel agency in advance if you are carrying the followings.
Items that exceed 120cm (47 in.) (*) or total linear dimensions exceeding 203cm (80 in.).
Items that weigh more than 32 kg (70 lbs.).
Large musical instruments such as cello, contrabass and etc.

London, Paris, Helsinki, Dubai and Australia routes

Checked baggage exceeding 32 kg (70 lbs.) for 1piece cannot be accepted in principle. Please either divide them to be less than 32 kg (70l bs.)

Seoul (GIMPO) airport

Checked baggage exceeding 137cm X 46cm X 55cm (Sum of Three Dimensions 238cm) for 1piece cannot be accepted in principle due to airport facility.

It is prohibited by law to carry dangerous goods into the cabin or to include them in your checked baggage.

Excess Liability Charge

There is a limit to a Carrier’s liability for checked baggage. Passengers may pay the prescribed excess value charge for valuable items at the time of check-in to raise the limit of liability to the declared amount up to US$5,000.

Examples of Dangerous Goods

Expensive Items, Valuables and Fragile Articles

The items listed below should be carried with you and not included in your checked baggage.

Expensive items:	Cash, jewelry, precious metals, securities, bills of exchange, works of art and antiques.
Valuables:	Documents, electronic data, passports and other personal identification required for travel, samples, credit/bank cards, cash vouchers, bankbooks, checks, commuter passes, keys, computers and computer accessories, mobile phones, film cameras, digital cameras, video cameras, medication, paintings, watches, mementos, etc.

JAL will not be liable for any damage to fragile articles such as musical instruments, sports equipment (including golf club, surfboard, windsurfing equipment, diving equipment, bicycle, etc.), ceramics, glass articles and liquors, if the damage result from the inherent defect, quality or vice of the item, although adequate precautions will be taken in their handling.
JAL also does not assume liability for the following damage to baggage, although adequate precautions will be taken in their handling.

• Damage to baggage from excess weight or over packing, or owing to defects in the baggage itself such as from normal wear and tear.
• Loss of protruding parts such as detachable wheels, straps, hooks and name tags.
• Minor damage such as scuffs, cuts, dents and dirt.
• Damage caused by TSA (Transportation Security Administration)Inspection.
