Special handling for frozen and chilled goods
Acceptance of cargo
Goods are stored in chillers or freezers operating in the desired temperature range or at a depot where goods are kept out of the weather and away from direct sunlight.
Stowing
Goods are packed for transportation in an environment that avoids direct sunlight and exposure to the outside.
Conveyance
Exposure to direct sunlight is kept to a minimum in the steps from transferring cargo to the aircraft and loading it onboard.
Steps
Shippers: Please contact the freight forwarder (air freight agent) when booking.
Step 1 Booking
Please contact your nearest JAL sales office. Enter “PERISHABLE” and Instructions for Storage Temperature Range in the Handling Information field.
Step 2 Acceptance of cargo
As inward goods deadlines vary between airports, please check or inquire beforehand.
Step 3 Delivery of cargo
As goods pickup timings vary between airports, please check or inquire beforehand.
- Please arrange your own transportation to and from the airport.
- Goods may not be available for pickup within the specified time if the flight arrives outside the customs service working hours. For more information, please refer to the terms and conditions for goods drop off and pickup at different airports.
