Discover Why Chiba Has the Best Golf Courses in Japan

Plan your visit today with JAL Vacations to discover the best golf courses in Chiba.

As the country with the second-most courses (only behind the United States), international golfers visiting Japan are guaranteed an exceptional experience. In particular, Chiba is considered a mecca for Japanese golf, with each course featuring beautiful scenery and a rewarding challenge. Just outside Tokyo, bringing your clubs on your adventure to Chiba is easy.

Before you arrive, it’s important to understand Japan’s unique golf culture. While the sport is hugely popular, many courses aren’t equipped for international travelers. You’ll also find that most courses only cater to Japanese speakers. Many golf courses also split play into two 9-hole sessions with a pre-arranged lunch in between featuring many classic Japanese dishes.

Get to know the Chiba golf region

Set about 40 kilometers east of Tokyo, Chiba is admired for its serene beauty. Stretching from pristine beaches along Tokyo Bay to soaring inland mountains, it’s an excellent spot for getting amongst nature.

However, golf remains one of the region's main attractions, with over 150 stunning courses attracting players from near and far. Plus, Narita International Airport is always just a short trip away, making it ideal for business and leisure travelers.

Once your round is finished, Chiba features stellar dining and accommodation. Alternatively, heading into central Tokyo is hassle-free. Whether you drive a rental car or catch a taxi, it takes about an hour to reach the city center. This unmatched convenience makes spending time playing golf in Chiba even more appealing.
