Who can book online? Any restriction?
Maximum number of passengers in a booking

- Number of persons who can be booked in a single booking is up to 9 persons including Adults (16 years of age or older), Youths (12 to 15 years of age), and Children(*1).
- In the case of itineraries with connections to/from flights operated by other airlines, Haruka Express Train, and/or Deutsche Bahn rail services, the maximum number of persons who can be booked in a single booking may be less than 9 persons.
Number of children and infants(*1) permitted to be accompanied by one adult
- One infant per adult over the age of 16.
- Up to 3 children and infants per adult over the age of 16.
- Infants are 0-1 years of age, and children are 2-11 years of age on the first departure date.
The following bookings cannot be made online on the JAL website. Reservations can be made at JAL Call Center.
Reservations made at JAL Call Center are subject to a Ticket Service Fee.
- When an infant or a child travels unaccompanied.
When an infant or a child does not travel in the same aircraft or class of service as an adult for at least one segment of a trip, the trip is considered to be without an adult.
* If a JMB member under the age of 12 logged in, the booking must include an adult aged 12 years or over.
- When an adult aged 16 or over travels with two or more infants
- When an adult aged 16 or over travels with four or more children under the age of 12
- An infant will travel on a Child Fare and occupy a seat
- A pregnant passenger applicable to any of the following conditions.
- Medical Information Form (MEDIF) must be submitted.
- When the expected date of delivery is within four weeks (28 days)
- When there is uncertainty concerning the expected date of delivery
- In the case of a multiple pregnancy
- If there is a history of early delivery
- When a stretcher, medical device, or medical oxygen tank is required
- Medical Information Form (MEDIF) must be submitted.
- When a passenger requires more than one seat.

Which flight segments can be booked online?

Japan domestic sectors served by the JAL group, other eligible sectors included in JAL Economy class fares, and all flight sectors shown in the booking engine.
- Note that bookings may not be possible for some cities.
How far in advance can bookings be made?

- Bookings can be made from 360 days prior to the departure date of the last flight in your itinerary.
- Reservation and purchase is available up to 6 hours prior to departure, or until 23:59 of the day before departure, whichever comes earlier applies.
- You may calculate the reservation available date below.
- An itinerary must consist of all flights departing within 360days from the day booking is made. Please book all the flights of your itinerary in a single booking.
- The booking acceptance date of discount fares may vary.

Passengers traveling with a JMB International Upgrade Award
To use the upgrade award, you are required to purchase a ticket for the flight first, then apply the upgrade from the JMB top page upon login.
If there are no seats available for an upgrade on the requested flight, the class of the purchased fare will be accommodated. Even for ticket refund due to no seats being available for upgrade, cancellation and refund charges will apply.
Seats on JAL group flights can be selected at the time of booking based on availability. Some booking classes may not be eligible for advance seat assignments.

Reservations can be changed via theJAL website up to 72 hours prior to departure.
Reservations can be changed via the JAL website up to 24 hours prior to the departure of your next flight. You can select a revised flight departing 72 hours or more after your reservation change.
Example:
- When your next flight departs at 9:00 pm on January 2, the process must be completed on or before 9:00 pm on January 1.
- When you make a reservation change at 9:00 pm on January 1, you can select a revised flight that departs on or after 9:00 pm on January 4.
- No Ticket Service Fee apply for changing your reservation via the website.
- If the period for changing your reservation via the website has passed, changes will be accepted by the call center. Ticket Service Fee will apply for changes made via the call center.
- We may not be able to change some fares due to fare regulations. For more information, please contact us.
- Refunds are available for tickets purchased via the JAL website until 11:59 pm on the day prior to the departure date. (If you are unable to do this due to technical issues, please contact the call center.)
- The amount to be refunded may differ from the amount which has been paid due to the exchange rate fluctuation.

About purchase tickets online
Who can purchase flight tickets?
Following conditions need to be met for passengers to purchase flight tickets on JAL website.
- Passengers made a reservation on JAL websites on either PC or smartphone site
- Passengers need to have an email address
- The flight tickets of travel companions in the same booking can be purchased together.
However, bookings include the following conditions cannot be purchased on JAL website. Please contact JAL Call Center for your requests.
- When an infant or a child travels unaccompanied(*1)
- When purchasing a child fare for an infant occupying a seat
- When a passenger requires more than one seat, etc.
- Flight tickets for infants who will be accompanied by an adult (above 12 years old) traveling in the same class of service on all flights in the itinerary can be purchased on JAL website following booking by phone.
When an infant or a child does not travel in the same aircraft or class of service as an adult for at least one flight segment of a trip, the trip is considered to be without an adult. (This includes situations in which the adult uses an award ticket and a ticket is purchased for the infant or child.)
Which itineraries can be purchased?
Itineraries meet all the conditions listed below.
- The itinerary was booked on JAL website on either PC or smartphone site
- The major international flight segments of the itinerary are consist of JAL group flights
- Some bookings including upgraded flights with JMB awards cannot be purchased.
- Itineraries with open sector cannot be booked and purchased.
- To comply with the U.S. transportation rules, for itineraries from the U.S. to the U.S. (including Hawaii and Guam) via Japan (*), at least one international flight is required to be operated by a U.S. carrier.
- Including itineraries regarded as "via Japan" by the U.S. authorities.

Even when above conditions are met, it may not be possible to purchase for reasons such as the system being unable to perform automatic fare calculation.
Fares that cannot be purchased on JAL website can be purchased at JAL call center.
Reservations and purchases are possible until 11:59 pm on the day before the flight, or up to 6 hours prior to departure for late-night flights departing after midnight.
When requesting fares that have a purchase deadline, please complete your request within each fare's purchase deadline.

Transactions will be settled in the local currency(*) and foreign exchange fees may apply based on your credit card. For details, please contact your card issuer.
- Transactions will be settled in U.S. dollar for Central and South America, Philippines and Vietnam departure, and Euro for Russia and United Arab Emirates departure.
Due to exchange rate fluctuations, the converted amount may differ from the charge amount from credit card company.
For passengers using JAL card, the price of tickets purchased in foreign currency will be converted into Japanese yen by the method specified by Japan Airlines.
For secure online purchase
When you purchase a ticket with your credit card through our website,you may be required to enter your personal password on a secure page for authentication to complete the online purchase.
The e-ticket will be sent by email to the designated email address. Please present it when check-in at the airport. Also, you are able to print your e-ticket on JAL website.

Flights eligible for special meal requests
JAL international flights
Special meals are not available on the following flights.
- Flights that do not offer inflight meals
- Codeshare flights not operated by the JAL Group
- Other airlines' flights
- Domestic flights
- Flights for which the request deadline has already passed
- 25 hours before the flight scheduled departure time
- Child meal and baby meal are available for passengers under the age of 12.
- Requests for special meals other than for children and infants are limited to customers with specific religious, dietary or medical requirements.
- Child meal and baby meal can be requested or changed when making or managing a booking.
- Special meals other than child meal and baby meal can be requested or changed on the "manage booking" page.
- Change of special meal must be requested by the request deadline. Special meal requests cannot be changed at the airport or on the flight.
Unused Reservations

Please do not make reservations that are not intended for actual boarding.
JAL Group reserves the right to cancel a customer's reservation, wholly or partially in case a reservation is suspected to be unusual, and cannot be possibly ticketed/used, or in the following situations.
Japan Airlines may cancel any of bookings without notification if customers have several bookings which cannot be actually used in terms of the itinerary (*)
- Please refer to the Conditions of Carriage Article 8 (E) 'Cancellation of Reservations made by JAL' for further details.
Making reservations under a fictional or fabricated name
Please book under the name of the customer who will actually board the flight. We may cancel a booking without notification if we see the name is not an actual name of passenger.
When you do not board a booked flight
If you wish to change or cancel a flight, please do so by the departure time of the flight. If you do not board a booked flight without changing or cancelling the flight in advance, we reserve the right to cancel any onward reservations in your itinerary.
Request regarding changes when your plans change
Please make sure that your reservation and tickets match the actual journey you intend to undertake.
After purchasing a ticket, if your plans change and you decide to change your flight date or no longer intend to use flights in a part of your itinerary, we may require one of the following:
・Have your ticket reissued to collect any resulting fare difference.
・Buy a completely new ticket.
After purchase, please recheck your e-ticket passenger copy. If your intended itinerary differs from that shown on your ticket, please have your ticket changes or purchase a new ticket.
For passenger flying US, Canada, or Australia routes

For passengers flying US routes (excluding Guam) including transit

- Even passengers whose nationality applies to the Visa Waiver Program must hold a machine-readable passport to board a connecting flight in the US (excluding Guam) or to enter the US.
Passengers not possessing a machine-readable passport must obtain a visa.
For passengers entering the US including Hawaii and Guam

- In addition to the information provided in the passport, passengers entering the US (including Hawaii and Guam) are required by government regulation to submit additional information through the airline in advance.

- The JAL Group includes a fuel surcharge and an insurance surcharge on all international tickets.

- Please register a phone number which enables us to reach you prior to the departure and during your travel. (Registering your phone number is required for JAL to contact you for flight irregularities. If your itinerary involves flights operated by other airlines, the operating airlines may contact you directly.)
- The content noted on the JAL Webpage including the flight schedule and aircraft type is subject to change without notice. Also, your reserved flight may be cancelled due to circumstances out of our control. We thank you for your understanding.
- Airline passengers’ rights are protected under the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code (MACPC), regardless if they have purchased travel insurance from an airline or any travel insurance service provider. For more information on the MACPC.
- Please make sure to read "Conditions of Carriage" before making reservation, payment, or purchase.
- Tickets are non-transferrable. The name on the ticket cannot be changed after issuance.
- Tickets must be used in the right sequence shown in the itinerary from the place of departure through any agreed stopping place to the final place of destination.
- A ticket is no longer valid if a passenger does not use all the coupons in the sequence provided in the ticket.
- Some countries require a minimum validity on a visa or passport for entry. Passengers are responsible for preparing all travel documents and/or other requirements for the countries of their travel in advance.
- Passengers who purchase a flight ticket on the JAL website will receive a confirmation email or an "eticket itinerary/receipt" email. In rare cases, these emails may not be delivered depending on the user's email setting. If you do not receive yours, please contact us.
