Job Description
This position is responsible for managing and monitoring cargo & mail handling, including both import and export, for the Japan Airlines’ American Region network from a safety and quality perspective. In addition, this position will provide technical support for stations in the US and Canada as necessary and monitor compliance with CBP, CBSA, TSA and Canadian regulations, requiring an excellent knowledge and communication/coordination capabilities with such agencies.
Supporting Overall Cargo and Mail operation in America Region
Periodically reviewing, supporting and improving each station’s Cargo & Mail operation procedures to maintain safety and quality of flights.
Plan and conduct the training for staff in US and Canada as an Cargo Instructor (CGI).
Assist/support/coordinate station activities and collaborate with multi-functional departments and agencies to ensure essential needs are met for safe, efficient, on-time operation.
Responsible for understanding and disseminating up-to-date government compliances so that each station can conduct their cargo businesses without any issues.
Submit monthly periodical statistics and reports
* This position requires frequent domestic / international business trip (30-40%)
Minimum Requirements
College degree or equivalent experience preferred
Minimum 5 years of extensive experience in the airline cargo and mail industry required
Knowledge of claim processes preferred but not required
Sales experience preferred
Excellent customer service and communication skills (written/verbal)
Excellent organization skills; skilled problem-solver with leadership qualities
Available to work variable hours, flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
Ability to work under demanding operational conditions and able to multi-task in a high-stress environment
Strong analytical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills in order to maintain relationships and communications with customers, other departments and government agencies
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Must pass TSA and US Customs background checks
Must have good knowledge of Cargo applications (CargoSpot, ACE, AES, ACI, etc.)
IATA Dangerous Goods Certificate required but not necessary
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance
Must have a valid driver’s license
Proficiency in MS office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, & Access
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa support available)
