JAL Introduces Elaborate New Meal Choices from Chicago to Tokyo
El Segundo, CA, November 2, 2006:   This week, Japan Airlines is introducing a new selection of gourmet dining options for its First and Executive Class customers traveling between Chicago and Tokyo. In collaboration with a panel of culinary experts, hors d'oeuvres and traditional Japanese zensai have been transformed into elegant dishes worthy of the title, "First Course". Newly designed first courses and a choice of delectable entrées complete an authentic dining experience rivaling that only found in the finest restaurants.

Delicacies to be offered on the First Class menu will change seasonally to showcase ingredients at their peak of flavor. The western-style menu this Fall will include Maine lobster and crab, and the Winter menu will include foie gras with truffles. Japanese zensai dishes to be served in First Class will feature the prized matsutake mushroom, fresh snow crab, and other seasonal ingredients. Kinoko no dobin mushi, a special type of suimono (clear soup) served in a traditional Japanese teapot brings together the flavors of Autumn, incorporating mushrooms, shrimp and ginnan (steamed gingko nuts). Executive Class customers will also be treated to upgraded zensai dishes that will feature matsutake mushrooms, gyuuniku taktaki (seared beef), and select nigiri sushi.

JAL has also expanded its second meal service in First Class, where passengers can dine at their leisure. This popular new concept, introduced in May 2006, allows First and Executive Class passengers to choose from a variety of western and Japanese a la carte items or a traditional meal anytime up to 90 minutes before arrival.

In First Class, kaisen chirashi zushi (fresh crab, salmon cut sashimi-style, salmon roe, shrimp, and egg beautifully arranged atop a bed of rice flavored with sushi vinegar) will be featured this Fall. Ishikari donburi (crab, salmon, shrimp, and shiitake mushrooms cooked in a miso based stew on a bed of rice) will be offered this Winter. Western-style selections include pasta, soups, salads, and sandwiches. For those who may also want something sweet, gourmet vanilla ice cream topped with fresh strawberries or chocolate sauce is available.

Japan Airlines operates daily nonstop B747-400 service between Chicago and Tokyo. The configuration offers New Skysleeper Solo seats in First Class and JAL Shell Flat seats in Executive Class. Convenient connections to and from cities throughout North America are easily accessible with codeshare flights operated by American Airlines and American Eagle.

The JAL Group, Asia's largest airline group, operates from nine gateways in the American Region including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Kona, Vancouver, Mexico City and Sao Paulo. Japan Airlines will be joining the oneworld® alliance group, with membership to be complete in early 2007.
