Japan Airlines Appoints New CEO of the Americas |
El Segundo, CA – April 24, 2007: Japan Airlines' American Region headquarters announced today the arrival of Hisao Taguchi, the carrier's new CEO - The Americas. Mr. Taguchi succeeds Susumu Miyoshi, who has returned to the airline's Headquarters in Tokyo to assume the position of Senior Executive Officer overseeing legal affairs, business activities reappraisal and environmental affairs. Mr. Taguchi will be based at JAL's American Region headquarters in El Segundo, California, and will be responsible for passenger and cargo operations throughout North and South America. "I am privileged to be assigned to the American Region and look forward to strengthening our position in the market," stated Mr. Taguchi. Mr. Taguchi joined Japan Airlines in 1978 after graduating from Keio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. During his career with the airline, he has held key positions in a number of areas including personnel and administration, and domestic passenger marketing. In 2007, Mr. Taguchi became an executive officer, and most recently held the position of Vice President Corporate Planning for Japan Airlines Corporation. Married with a 22-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter, Mr. Taguchi looks forward to his new life in the United States. On April 1, Japan Airlines joined the oneworld¨ alliance and the carrier's subsidiaries JALways, Japan Asia Airways, JAL Express, J-AIR and Japan Transocean Air joined as affiliates. The JAL Group currently serves 214 destinations in 34 countries and territories. The carrier's American Region gateways include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Kona, Vancouver, Mexico City and São Paulo. |
