Malaysia e-Invoice

The Government of Malaysia has announced the phased implementation of e-Invoice starting 01 August 2024.

The e-Invoice is an initiative by Inland Revenue Board Malaysia (“IRBM’) to digitalize the business invoicing process in Malaysia. The format and data captured are in standardized electronic format following predefined frameworks and are required to be validated by IRBM.

Issuance of e-Invoice for tickets purchased directly from Airline

  • Passengers who purchase air tickets directly via Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. website will be issued with an e-Invoice upon request. Please fill in the e-Invoice requisition form provided in our website.
  • The e-Invoice will be sent in a separate email from the electronic ticket (e-ticket).
  • The e-Invoice is issued directly by Japan Airlines Co. Ltd, Kuala Lumpur through IRBM Myinvois Portal. No personal data is shared to 3rd Party.
  • During the implementation phase, there may be delays or issues with the generation of validated e-Invoices. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
  • Once e-Invoice is submitted for validation with IRBM, it cannot be reissued or modified.
  • E-Invoice is currently not required for tax claim as referenced in IRBM’s Frequent Asked Questions (FAQs) (Updated 09 July 2025), Part 1 : General, (i) Introduction to e-Invoice, Question No. 4, , “taxpayers can continue to claim tax deductions or personal tax relief using existing documentation until such time the legislation has been amended “.

For passengers who purchase their air tickets via travel agents or online travel agents, please refer to your travel agents or the online travel agent’s website for the e-Invoice.

Travel Documentations

  • Please be reminded that the e-Invoice is solely for compliance purposes with the tax authority and is not a valid travel document.
  • We advise customers to refer to e-tickets for travel itinerary details. For flight check-in, passengers must present their e-tickets , not the e-Invoice.
