A forest that tells history
The trees in the Yanbaru forest were once a valuable resource used for the construction of Shuri Castle. After World War II, the trees from Yanbaru were transported to various places to help rebuild the scorched land of Okinawa. Under U.S. military governance, the area around the River Song Course was used as a training feild, designed to resemble a subtropical jungle. However, the training field has since been returned, and the area, now known as the 'Miracle Forest,' is home to many rare endemic and endangered species. It has been registered as a World Natural Heritage site, allowing everyone to appreciate its natural beauty.
