Special handling for JAL international tickets following the situation of COVID-19 (Last Updated April 1, 2021)

Thank you for flying with Japan Airlines. 

In response to basic policy announced by the Coronavirus Response Headquarters of government of Japan, please follow additional special handling on JAL international tickets.

  • If you purchased tickets through travel agencies, please contact your travel agency.

Refund through the website is also available until day before your departure.

Applicable tickets

Tickets issued by Japan Airlines starting with '131' with following conditions:

Applicable flights Cancellation or schedule changed flights
Flight date For flights departing up to October 30, 2021 inclusive

Until the day before the original reserved flight

(If your original flight before change is departing up to April 15, 2021 and if you have not arranged alternative flight, please contact Japan Airlines within one year from the issue date of your ticket (e-ticket receipt) or until March 31, 2021 whichever is earlier.)

  • Passengers who wish to change or refund your ticket due immigration restrictions of each country, change/refund is available regardless of cancellation or a flight schedule change.
    However, it is available only two months prior to the original reserved flight.
  • Although this is also applicable for tickets of Japan Domestic fares for non-Japan residents, it may not be applied through JAL website.

Ticket Change

Date change is available once free of charge.

Period of alternative flight

〔If your original flight before change is departing up to April 15, 2021〕

On/before July 10, 2021.

〔If your original flight before change is departing during April 16, 2021 - October 30, 2021〕

On/before November 10, 2021

  • Date change is available for journeys finishing during this period.
  • For JMB Partner Airlines Award Tickets or oneworld Award Tickets, changes are permitted if the new itinerary is within 1 year from the date the award ticket is issued.
  • As this service is not available on the JAL website, please contact JAL office below.
  • Flight change may be subject to seat availability of the reservation class corresponding to respective ticket fare type.

Refund

Refund without charge is available regardless of the fare rules. JAL will refund award ticket including the miles that are expired at the time of refund.

Refund through JAL website is available until 23:59 p.m. of the day before of flight departure.

Please proceed from "booking confirmation" below.

If we accept reservation refund without any fee from JAL website, the information about the fee exemption (Below in the red frame) will be displayed on the "Cancellation summary" page.

If you are unable to proceed through JAL Website or if you encounter additional charge, please kindly contact JAL office below.

For refund at our call center, please contact until the day before your departure.

Ticket Service Fee paid at the time of ticket purchase is not refundable.

  • Even after the boarding date, we will accept your refund specially through call center during the period below, if the ticket is applicable.
