Special handling for JAL international tickets following the situation of COVID-19 (Last Updated November 20, 2020)

Thank you for flying with Japan Airlines. 

In response to basic policy announced by the Coronavirus Response Headquarters of government of Japan, please follow additional special handling on JAL international tickets.

  • If you purchased tickets through travel agencies, please contact your travel agency.

Refund through the website is also available until day before your departure. Any refund or extension of ticket validity which are not available through the website,please contact JAL office below.

Applicable tickets

Tickets issued by Japan Airlines starting with '131' with following conditions:

All flights to / from Japan

Ticket issue date Tickets issued on/before June 11, 2020
Flight date For flights departing February 28, 2020 -  January 31, 2021 inclusive
Request date Request on/after October 1, 2020
  • Tickets already refunded are out of scope even if it is within the period above.
  • Passengers who wish to change or refund your ticket due to flight suspension, flight reduction, or immigration restrictions, change/refund is available regardless of the ticket issue date.
  • Altough this is also applicable for tickets of Japan Domestic fares for non-Japan residents, it may not be applied through JAL website. Please kindly contact JAL International Reservations and Information.
  • In addition to the ticket issue dates above, JAL will accept refund for passengers who wish to refund tickets issued between June 12, 2020 - October 23, 2020 due to suspension of the Honolulu Marathon.

Ticket Change

Date change is available once free of charge.

Period of alternative flight

On/before March 31, 2021 

  • Date change is available for jouneys finishing during this period.
  • For JMB Partner Airlines Award Tickets or oneworld Award Tickets, changes are permitted if the new itinerary is within 1 year from the date the award ticket is issued.
  • As this service is not available on the JAL website, please contact JAL office below.
  • Flight change may be subject to seat availability of the reservation class corresponding to respective ticket fare type.

Extension of Ticket Validity

If the new plan of your journey is not yet decided, cancellation of the booked flights without a new itinerary is available.Please contact Japan Airlines below before refund process.

When you wish to book your new journey, please contact Japan Airlines within one year from the issue date of your ticket (e-ticket receipt) and until the day before the new flight you wish to reserve. (Change is available only once. After the new itinerary is confirmed, it may not be changed.)

Booking of the new dates past your ticket validity is available if your new plan is within the period below.

About rebooking

When requesting reservation again, please have your applied ticket information (*) ready when contact JAL office below.

(*) Original ticketed flight number, flight date, name, reservation number or ticket number

Refund

Refund without charge is available regardless of the fare rules. JAL will refund award ticket including the miles that are expired at the time of refund.

Refund through JAL website is available until 23:59 p.m. of the day before of flight departure.

If we accept reservation refund without any fee from JAL website, the information about the fee exemption (Below in the red frame) will be displayed on the "Cancellation summary" page.

If you are unable to proceed through JAL Website or if you encounter additional charge, please kindly contact JAL office below.

For refund at our call center, please contact until the day before your departure.

Ticket Service Fee paid at the time of ticket purchase is not refundable.

  • Even after the boarding date, we will accept your refund specially through call center during the period below, if the ticket is applicable.
