A Guide for Customers with Disabilities JAL PRIORITY GUEST SUPPORT

Cabin Environment

After take-off, an aircraft slowly gains altitude before reaching a height of 10,000m and a speed of 900 km/h, just below the speed of sound. Inside the aircraft, an environment similar to that on the ground is artificially created using air conditioners and air pressurization equipment. However, this environment is still significantly different from that on the ground. Please check the information before traveling.

For a Pleasant Flight

Onboard Air Pressure and Function

Onboard air pressure when the aircraft is in level flight is 0.8, which is about the same environment as at 2,000m above sea level. The change in air pressure occurs onboard during the 15 to 30 minutes of both after takeoff and before landing. Upon ascending, any trapped gas in the body will expand leading to pain or uncomfortableness of the ear and your body.

Decrease of onboard oxygen level

With the decreasing of the oxygen level onboard upon accendng, the Oxygen will drop to 80% of which that is on the ground. From this change, you may experience, repertory disorder, cardiac disorder and brain related disorders. Also it is said that customer with heavy symptoms of faintness, and during the late stage of pregnancy may be affected.
