From September 1, 2026, the Opening of the North Satellite for Domestic Flights at Haneda Airport and the Introduction of a Strict Deadline for Baggage Check‑in
From September 1, 2026, the new North Satellite on the north side of Terminal 1 will open for domestic flights at Tokyo International Airport (hereinafter “Haneda Airport”). Also, on the same day, the baggage check‑in deadline will be strictly enforced at 30 minutes prior to departure. Please allow sufficient time to reach the airport. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Opening of North Satellite scheduled on September 1, 2026
The new North Satellite facilities will open from September. This facility is built on the north side of Terminal 1 under the airport enhancement plan by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The domestic flights by JAL Group airlines departing from Haneda Airport will begin using the North Satellite facilities as planned.
Gates 26 to 29 at the North Satellite provides direct boarding without bus transfers. The nearest security checkpoints are E and F. Please note that the walk from these checkpoints to the gates at the North Satellite will take longer than before.
Customers boarding flights at the North Satellite are asked to allow extra time at the security checkpoints and to arrive at the boarding gate 10 minutes before your flight departure time.
Strict Baggage Check‑in Deadline from September 1, 2026
The Scheduled Airlines Association of Japan and the seven airlines operating at Haneda Airport are asking customers to observe and ensure that the boarding cut-off times of each carrier are met.
The Scheduled Airlines Association of Japan recommends member airlines to periodically review and adjust their cut‑off times to support smoother boarding and on‑time departures. Accordingly, the domestic flights by the JAL Group airlines departing from Haneda Airport will revise the baggage check‑in deadline.
The baggage check‑in deadline for domestic flights at Haneda Airport will be 30 minutes prior to departure. Be sure to check-in your baggage 30 minutes prior to your departure and arrive at the boarding gate 10 minutes before your flight departure time.
The baggage drop‑off location depends on your destination. Please check the appropriate wing, whether it is the South Wing or North Wing, in advance:
South Wing — flights bound for Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa
North Wing — flights bound for Hokkaido, Tohoku, Hokuriku, Tokai, and Kinki
