For guests entering Japan

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare asks you to take the following actions before and after your entry to Japan.

The Japanese Government has decided a new and additional border measures for passenger entry into Japan. 

All passengers departing for Japan are advised to check the website via the following link.

Travelers with connecting flights from Japan (International and Domestic)

Travelers connecting to an international flight

Travelers who are not entering Japan and transferring directly to a third country by transit, are not required to submit any documents and undergo PCR tests.
However, the following cases require entry into Japan. Please be informed that foreign nationals arriving from prohibited countries will not be allowed to enter Japan.

  • Transferring between Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport) and Narita International Airport
  • Travelers with a connecting flight out of Narita International Airport the following day

Additionally, for passengers transiting via Japan to another country, please refer to the Entry restrictions for each country and Quarantine Measures information.

Travelers connecting to a domestic flight

All travelers arriving from an international flight must stay at places designated by the quarantine chief (such as home) for 14 days from the day following their entry into Japan. Travelers must not use public transportation (including domestic flights) to get to their designated place of quarantine from the airport. Therefore, connections to domestic flights can be made from the 15th day after the 14 days of quarantine is completed.
Additionally, if you have a valid vaccination certificate approved by the Japanese government, undertake a self-administered test on/after the 10th day after entering Japan, and report a negative result to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (Health Monitoring Center for Overseas Entrants), a portion of your waiting period may be shortened. If your waiting period is shortened, you will be able to use public transportation, including domestic flights.

Please note that due to travel restrictions, we may suspend the use of some Web Check-in functions and Self Check-in kiosks on certain routes.

Passengers who are faced with immigration restrictions at the departure or arrival airports will be able to change or refund JAL international tickets without charge, regardless of fare rules.
