Digital Health Credential App "VeriFLY" to Assist With Your COVID-Safe Travel

With the aim of resuming air travel with greater safety and peace of mind on international flights, JAL will launch "VeriFLY".

What is VeriFLY?

The "VeriFLY" app will be introduced to selected routes. This service allows to check your entry requirements such as health certificates when entering your destination country. *1
Customers traveling on eligible routes can download the "VeriFLY" app and follow the instructions to check entry requirements in advance.
Check-in procedures at the airport will become much smoother as you will be able to use the "VeriFLY" app to show that you are qualified to travel. Please take this opportunity to try this new system. *2*3*4

  1. VeriFLY is a service provided by Daon, an American software company.
  2. For entry to the US, passengers are required to present an Attestation Form.
    By registering your attestation form digitally on VeriFLY, instead of having to download/print out the form on paper, you will only need to present your "VeriFLY" app screen at the check in counter.
  3. When departing from New York/Boston/San Diego/San Francisco/Seattle/Dallas Fort Worth/Chicago, passengers will also be required to present a negative certificate at the check-in counter.
    Please note that if there is a discrepancy between the check of negative certificate by our staff and the displayed contents of the app, JAL will decide the availability of check-in acceptance based on the check of negative certificate.
  4. Effective from November 8, 2021, all non-U.S. citizen/non-U.S. immigrants traveling to the United States by air are required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. VeriFLY app will require you to register your vaccination certificates, in addition to COVID-19 test results and Attestation Form. (Please refer to CDC website for further details)

Eligible routes

Tokyo (Haneda/Narita) - United States (excluding Hawaii and Guam)
New York/Boston/San Diego/San Francisco/Seattle/Dallas Fort Worth/Chicago - Tokyo (Haneda/Narita)

  • JAL-operated flights only. Codeshare flights operated by other airlines are not eligible.
  • Customers with the following connecting flights ARE NOT eligible:

-JAL-operated international flight connecting to Other airline-operated international flight, departing from Japan, connecting in the US to another destination country
-JAL-operated international flight connecting to JAL or Other airline-operated international flight, departing from US, connecting in Japan to another destination country

Customers with the following connecting flights ARE eligible:
-JAL-operated domestic flight connecting to JAL-operated international flight with a final destination in the US.
-JAL-operated international flight connecting to US domestic flight operated by another airline.
-JAL-operated international flight connecting to JAL-operated international flight, connecting in Japan with a final destination in the US.
-Other airline-operated international flight connecting to JAL-operated international flight, connecting in Tokyo with a final destination in the US.

Eligible flight dates

  • For Chicago - Tokyo routes, flights with departure dates from December 6, 2021 are eligible
  • Applicable dates may change.

Eligible customers

All passengers aged 4 years and over (all nationalities) *

  • Passengers can register children aged under 16 years in their own app as an accompanying passenger.

Eligible fares

All fares, including tickets issued by travel agencies, package tours, and frequent-flier award tickets.

STEP1

Initial display

Download app to device.

STEP2

Create your account

Follow the app instructions to register your name and email address.
Re-open the app from the verification email, and complete account creation by taking a selfie in the app.

Select your destination

Choose your destination from the list shown in "Search" menu.
Proceed to register your flight details from "Add Trip".

  • If necessary, register your traveling companion's information.
  • Flight details cannot be edited once registered. Please delete and recreate your trip.

STEP4

Register information required for entry to the US

Register information regarding entry requirements (1. COVID-19 vaccination certificate, 2. COVID-19 negative test certificate, 3. Attestation, 4. Pre-travel checklist etc).

  • You will be asked to upload a picture of your COVID-19 negative certificate/vaccination certificate.
  • Your COVID-19 negative certificate/vaccination certificate is required to be uploaded at least 4 hours prior to your flight departure time.
  • Those passengers who are exempted from vaccination are not applicable for VeriFLY usage as a principle.

STEP5

Registration completed

Please show this "Ready to Travel" screen to the airport staff on the day of departure.

For the latest travel conditions, please check the website of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Overseas Safety, or information on embassy, consulate, and health organization websites for your destination.
The purpose of the trial is to ensure smooth procedures on departure. Customers will still need to follow regular entry procedures on arrival. COVID-19 negative test certificates, vaccination certificates and other documents may be requested by government or state/local authorities upon arrival, thus customers should have the original paper document available to show at any time.
