After meeting your guide at Fukuoka Airport, your first destination is the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine – one of the most important monuments of its kind in Japan. When you’re finished roaming the expansive courtyard, you can also stop at Kamado Shrine, located at the top of Mount Hōman. 

Following lunch in the city of Imari, it’s onwards to Hirado. This city is the birthplace of Japanese–European trade, which is explored in great depths at the Hirado Dutch Trading Post. Nearby, the Matsura Historical Museum features heirlooms from the clan that ruled the region for 600 years, including samurai swords and ship diagrams.

Then, you’ll make the short trip across the sea to Hirado Castle and your once-in-a-lifetime accommodation. Overlooking the city from its hilltop position, you’ll dine on a full-course meal featuring the best of local ingredients.

Hita Mameda area

The second day of this exclusive tour starts with a drive through the countryside to the Hita Mameda area. Nicknamed the ‘Kyoto of Kyushu,’ there are endless similarities found dotted along the historic streets. Meanwhile, this is your chance to find something delicious for lunch.

Back on the road, you’ll be driven through the forested hinterland to arrive at Kokonoe Yume Otsurihashi. Opened in 2006, this striking 568-foot-high suspension bridge features panoramic valley and waterfall views. Situated in the Aso-Kuju National Park, the distant Kuju mountain range makes for the perfect backdrop.

Heading northeast through the hills, your day concludes in the peaceful surrounds of the Yufuin Onsen. As some of the most famous hot springs in the Oita prefecture, you’ll experience outstanding views of Mount Yufu from your steamy open-air bath.

Then it’s time to head to your accommodation at Yufuin Tamanoyu for dinner, a charming hotel set amongst a dense 2.5-acre forest.

Following a tasty breakfast, you'll have time to stroll around the lush grounds of your accommodation, which was once used by Zen priests as a tranquil retreat. Then, the final day of this extravagant tour begins with a 40-minute drive to Umi Jigoku and Chinoike Jigoku in Beppu City. 

Known colloquially as ‘Sea Hell’ and ‘Blood Hell,’ these simmering ponds are part of a wider collection of hot springs that each have their own vibrant colors and thermal activity.

After lunch in the attractive bayside city of Beppu, you’ll be transported back to Fukuoka Airport, where the tour reaches its conclusion.
