Kakunodate, which is also called the "small Kyoto of Michinoku," is the premier cherry blossom-viewing spot in Tohoku. The Samurai Residences Street, which boasts about 400 weeping cherry trees blossoming on both sides of the road, and the 400 Yoshino cherry trees along a bank of the Hinokinai River, forming a gorgeous 2km long tunnel of cherry blossoms, are particularly gorgeous sights.
