A famous cherry blossom viewing spot beloved since the Meiji era

Since opening in 1881, Nishikoen Park has been known as one of Fukuoka's premier cherry blossom viewing locations. Approximately 1,300 cherry trees, including Yoshino cherry trees and Yamazakura cherry trees, are in full bloom in the park, and it is the only one in Fukuoka Prefecture to have been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Sites. From the observation deck, views of Fukuoka City, Hakata Bay and even Shikanoshima Island, can be enjoyed.
