Shukugawa Park, which extends along a river for a total length of 4 km, is planted with 1,660 cherry trees on a 2.8-km stretch of the river banks, which run north-south, producing a beautiful lane of cherry blossoms. This is also an area where many literati, such as Yasushi Inoue, Haruki Murakami, Shusaku Endo, and Junichiro Tanizaki liked to live, and this area is often described in literary works.
