A Guide for Passengers with Disabilities (JAL PRIORITY GUEST SUPPORT)

To Ensure a Comfortable, Enjoyable Journey

Please read the following before boarding the aircraft.

Passengers Not Suited for Air Travel

JAL's policy denies passage to any passenger suffering from a potentially infectious disease. If you suffer from any of the following health conditions, we strongly suggest that you consult your doctor for advice before travel if you have any concerns or doubts about your fitness for travel. Your doctor may wish to contact our reservations for further discussions and will be asked to complete Medical Information Form (MEDIF).

Heart Conditions
  • Heart failure
  • Unstable angina
  • Acute myocardinal infarction (occurring within the last 6 weeks)
  • Arrythmia
  • Unstable condition after cardiac surgery
Respiratory Conditions
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Pneumothorax where the lungs cannot be completely expanded
Other Conditions
  • Recurring coughing up of blood (hemoptysis)
  • Acute cerebral apoplexy (occurring with the last 4 weeks)
  • Air remaining in the central nervous system due to brain examination etc.
  • Brain disease brought on by increased intracranial pressure
  • Serious anemia
  • Gastro-intestinal disease with possible risk of bleeding, hematemesis, melena such as the acute phase of gastric or duodenal ulcer, or ileus
  • Serious inflammation of the middle ear (otitis media)
  • Wounds that have not sufficiently healed (due to head, chest, or abdominal operations)
  • Pregnant women expecting within 28 days or less
  • Newly born infants less than 7 days old
  • Unstable mental illness, alcoholics or other addiction
  • Acute phase of decompression sickness
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis or pulmonary artery embolism which has not received treatment
  • Infectious diseases of Type 5 categorized in the Infectious Disease Control Law of Japan where there is a risk of infection to other passengers
  • Infectious diseases prohibiting school attendance by School Health and Safety Act that have not cleared the school attendance prohibition period

  • Infectious tuberculosis
