2018 Indonesia (Sulawesi) Earthquake-Tsunami Support Miles JAL Group will support the victims of the earthquake and tsunami which struck Indonesia (Sulawesi) on September 28. We ask for cooperation to JMB members through Charity Mile.

JAL Group extends its deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones as a result of the earthquake and tsunami on September 28, and we extend our sincerest sympathies to all who have been impacted by this disaster.
To assist the effort for quick recovery, JAL Group decided to offer support and assistance through donation. We also ask for cooperation from JMB members to support the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami through Charity Miles.

Connecting People to People, Bridging Japan and the World Project JAL × Kopernik

Kopernik is a NPO that undertakes activities for "Connecting country to country," "Environmental conservation," "Improving sanitation and health in developing countries," (Safety and Security) and "Improving children's lives and expanding the opportunity to study" (Nurturing the next generation). These activities also resonate with the CSR activities of the JAL Group. Since 2013, we have been engaged in the Connecting People to People, Bridging Japan and the World Project to expand the impact of such activities through collaboration.
JAL will offer ongoing support to Kopernilk's activities, including the provision of air tickets.

Considering the devastating situation caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi, Indonesia, we will support Kopernik's activities by sending emergency support kits such as water filters, solar lights which can be used as "rechargeable mobile phone chargers" and food supplies to the victims of this earthquake and tsunami.

November 16, 2018 (Friday) 10:00 a.m. (Japan time) - December 16, 2018 (Sunday) 11:59 p.m. (Japan time)
Mileage for donation
Donations will be accepted in units of 500 miles on the JAL website.
  • *The JAL Group will donate the equivalent amount in cash (1 mile = ¥1) to Kopernik.
How to apply
If you wish to support this Charity with your JMB miles, please click the "Apply" button of your preferred units (mileage).
  • *Each "Apply" button is valid for once only. Even if you click the same "Apply" button multiple times, the application will be for once only.
  • *Please click the miles you wish to donate from the apply button below. The total miles of the apply buttons clicked can be donated.
  • *If you wish to apply for 13,000 miles or more, please call the JMB Center responsible for the region of your registered address.

Please note that applications cannot be cancelled under any circumstances.

About mileage deduction

Mileage will be deducted within a week of the application date.

  • *Members who have mileage which is valid until the last day of November will be eligible for mileage deduction if they make their application by 11:59 p.m.(Japan time) on November 30.
  • *You can confirm your transaction from "Record Details" in Mileage Details (balance inquiry) after mileage deduction. Please note that the transaction will be displayed as "CHARITY MILE SUPPORT TO KOPERNIK" in the Record Details.
  • *If your mileage balance is less than the applied mileage at the time of mileage deduction, mileage will be deducted in units of 500 miles with the mileage balance as the upper limit.
    Example: If you applied for 3,000 miles but your mileage balance is 2,800 miles at the time of mileage deduction, 2,500 miles will be deducted.
  • *If your mileage balance is less than 500 miles at the time of mileage deduction, your application will be cancelled.
