Increase of Fuel Surcharge (Approved by JCAB)

Please be informed that Japan Airlines International Co.,Ltd(JALI) has received an approval of JCAB for the increase of the Fuel Surcharge effective 1st August 2007. JAL had introduced the fuel surcharge in October 2002 due to rising costs stemming from high fuel prices and renewed the system last October as announced in ICB 907. However, the recent rise in fuel prices has surpassed the limit of our self-efforts and remained at extremely high levels. ( From May 11 2007, the price has been more than USD 80.00 per barrel for over 20 consecutive business days. ) Considering this situation, we have decided to increase the Fuel Surcharge as below in order to maintain our service standard. Your understanding and cooperation on this matter would be greatly apprciated. Detailed conditions of the Fuel Surcharge are as follows. * The fuel surcharge for the outbound shipments from Japan will take effect on Air Waybills (AWB) issued on and after August 1, 2007. The surcharge is \73/kg for long-haul TC1/2 destinations and \63/kg for short-haul TC3 destinations. As for the outbound shipments from TC1,2 and TC3 countries except Japan, please contact JAL sales offices in origin country for details of the surcharge. * The fuel surcharge is applicable to Chargeable Weight. * The fuel surcharge is not applicable to Minimum Charge shipments. * Please add fuel surcharge code "MY" and the applicable amount in "Other Charges" on the AWB. In addition, add the fuel surcharge amount along with other charges in "Total Other Charges Due Carrier" on the AWB. * Surcharge may be paid either on PP or CC basis, however, it should be consistent with the payment for Weight Charge. * In the event that the fuel price stays at a a level lower than. - USD 75.00/Barrel for 20 consecutive business days, then the fuel surcharge will be decreased to JPY 66/kg for Long-haul(TC1/2) and JPY57/kg for Short-haul(TC3). * Recent trends in Fuel Price is shown on our website for your information.
