Arrival regulations

Quarantine

Checks are carried out using infra-red cameras, and there is no need to submit a questionnaire. There are usually no issues with quarantine if you are arriving in Korea directly from Japan.

Immigration

Japanese citizens generally do not require a visa to enter Korea for sightseeing purposes if the duration of stay is 90 days or less.
After arrival, please proceed from the passenger terminal bridge to Immigration on level 2. Please fill in the required information on the arrivals card handed out on the aircraft, and present it along with your passport to the immigration officer, who will stamp your passport with an arrivals stamp.

  • IMPORTANT
    • Immigration checks are rigorous, and individual travelers (but not sightseeing groups) may be required to present documents or samples explaining the reason for entering the country, so please be prepared.
    • Passengers who are deemed by the Korean government to be Korean nationals, or foreigners living in Korea in possession of an alien registration card, are not required to complete an arrivals card.
Foreign nationals who do not possess alien registration cards are still required to submit an arrivals card.

Customs

All passengers, without exception, must fill out a carried items declaration form (Korean customs declaration form) and hand it in to a customs officer, regardless of whether they have anything to declare*.
If you do not submit a customs declaration, all of your baggage and items in your possession could be opened and searched, and you will be required to pay tax if taxable items are discovered.

  • The form is available on board the aircraft. In order to avoid delays upon arrival, please fill out the required information in advance and then detach the completed section and hand it in to a member of staff.
  • IMPORTANT
    • Please ensure that you declare any expensive items you are bringing in. Although they will be tax-exempt, their serial numbers will be recorded in your passport, and checks will be made at departure to ensure that the items are still in your possession.

Quarantine (Animals And Plants)

  • If you are carrying any kind of plant including seedlings, bulbs, raw fruits, fruits and vegetables, as well as golf clubs or golf shoes, it is necessary to declare them at the plant quarantine station at the time of arrival. If you fail to declare them, you will be fined.
  • Meat from Japan may not be brought into Korea.

Pets

Prior reservation is necessary if you wish to bring your pet, as the transportation environment within the aircraft needs to be prepared.
