Changes of handling procedures due to transformation of Passenger Service System

The transformation of JAL Group's Passenger Service System is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
In line with this, please note the following changes will be applied.
If there are any additional changes, further announcement will be made accordingly.

Change in ticket validity

Effective date: November 16, 2017

The followig change in ticket validity will be applied to fares that permit reservation change.

Until November 15, 2017 From November 16, 2017

For 90 days from the next day of ticket issue

For 1 year from the next day of ticket issue

  • *If your ticket is valid as of November 16, 2017, validity can be extended (to 1 year from the next day of ticket issue).
Applicable Fares
One-Way Fare, Child Fare, Round-Trip Fare*1, Discount for the Disabled, JAL Business KIPPU*1*2, e-Business 6, Senior Citizen Stand-By Fare, Care Giver's Saver Fare, Sky Mate Stand-By Fare, Special Transit Fare, Remote Island Fare, RAC Round-Trip Fare*1*2, Shareholder's Saver Fare*3
  • *1The validity of flight tickets purchased prior to November 15, 2017 can be extended by contacting opens in new windowJAL Domestic Reservation & Information (via phone).
  • *2The valid period of the second flight will be determined after the first flight has been completed.
    JAL Business KIPPU: 91 days, RAC Round-Trip Fare: 60 days (including the date of the first flight)
  • *3The validity is the date printed on the flight ticket or on the Shareholders Discount Coupon, whichever is earlier.

Fare adjustment after ticket purchase

Effective date: November 16, 2017

For fares types that permit booking change, no fare adjustment (charge or refund) will be made regardless of changes in fares made without prior notice.

Notification of domestic ticket handling (for purchased ticket)

Payment for First Class/ Class J charge

Effective date: November 16, 2017

From November 16, 2017, charge for First Class or Class J will be included in the fares. Please make payment of the total amount at the time of ticket purchase.

Until November 15, 2017 From November 16, 2017
The charge for the Economy Class can be paid in advance separately from the charge for First Class or Class J.

Please make payment of the total amount including the charge for First Class or class J.
For customers who have only paid for the Economy Class charge before November 15, 2017, please contact opens in new windowJAL Domestic Reservation & Information (via phone) or stop by the JAL airport counter on the flight day.

To change class after ticket purchase

Effective date: November 16, 2017

From November 16, 2017, class of service cannot be changed after ticket purchase for the following fares.

TOKUBIN, SAKITOKU, Super SAKITOKU, Ultra SAKITOKU, JMB Companion Fare, Special Transit Fare

To change the class, passengers will be required to refund the original ticket and purchase another ticket of the new class. Refunds will be subject to Refund Charge and Cancellation Charge.
If there are seats available in First Class or Class J on the day of departure at the airport, upgrade is acceptable with an additional charge.

Ticket Refund and Cancellation Charges

Use of credit card as authentication code

Effective date: November 16, 2017

From November 16, 2017, the credit card used for ticket purchase will not be used as an authentication code for various procedures, including boarding, change of reservation that requires payment adjustment, refund, and the reissuance of receipt, boarding certificate, or e-ticket.
*JALCARD (credit card) can be used continuously as the verification of JMB membership number.

Please use one of the following items to proceed the above-mentioned procedures.

About waitlisted reservation

Boarding date: From October 29, 2017

Change will be applied as below.
For all fares, waitlisting for Class J and First Class seats upgrade is acceptable at the departing airport on the day of travel. An additional charge will apply for the upgrade.

About Reservation Number

Effective date: May 10, 2017

From May 10, 2017, Reservation Number for JAL domestic flights has become easier for use.

  • The same Reservation Number is applied to the whole round-trip (or transit) itinerary. Reservation Number is issued per reservation record.
  • Reservation Number will not be revised after any changes of the reservation. The format of Reservation Number has been changed from 4-digit number to 6-digit alphanumerical characters.
    (e.g. from "0234" to "ABC234")
    • *For JAL Domestic Award Tickets, the new Reservation Number is consist of "S" and the previous Reservation Number (e.g. S0234).

Until May 9, 2017 From May 10, 2017

The previous 4-digit Reservation Number can still be used for all procedures before boarding, such as managing booking on JAL website, or check-in at the Self Service Check-in and Ticketing Kiosk at airports.

In addition, the new 6-digit Reservation Number will be advised on JAL websites after May 10, 2017. You may access to your reservation with the 4-digit Reservation Number and check the new 6-digit Reservation Number.

The new 6-digit Reservation Number is advised at the time of making new booking or reservation change.

Online booking of JAL Business KIPPU

Effective date: November 16, 2017
