Reservations for Children (ages 3 to 11 years old) and Infants (under the age of 3)

For fare purposes, age groups are defined as follows:

Infant - between eight days and two years of age
Child - between three and eleven years of age
Adult - 12 years or older

Boarding

Depending on their age, children may be required to board with an adult escort (at least 12 years of age) or use our Kids Travel Support Service.

* A child 3 to 5 may not board accompanied by only a child 6 to 11.

Understanding fares for infants and children:

To book a child with an adult, select the same fare for the child as the adult. The system will automatically select the lower of either the Child Fare or other selected discounted fares.

For children accompanied by an adult flying JAL Business KIPPU, please reserve Child Fare.
There is no children's fare for JMB Companion Fares. The same fare applies for adults and children.
Infants sharing a seat with an adult may fly free of charge, up to one infant per accompanying adult.
If an Infant under the age of 3 is occupying a seat, the same fare which will be applied to a child will be charged.

SAKITOKU, Super SAKITOKU and Transit Fare 28 Tickets

To book a child at the same time as an adult:
If Child Fare is selected as the lower price compared to other discounted fares, ticket is available for purchase up to 90 days before the departure date. (The ticket validity is 90 days from the day after it is purchased.) Please confirm the date when purchase becomes available. Further, tickets must be purchased by the designated deadline for purchase.

To book a child separately from an adult:
If Child Fare is lower than SAKITOKU, Super SAKITOKU and Transit Fare 28 but Child Fare is not yet on sale (until two months prior to departure), please contact JAL Domestic Reservations and infomation for assistance to make reservations.
