◇ Regardless of who uses the award, application for the award should be made by the member himself/herself.
◇ Request for awards will only be accepted in the region where the JMB member resides.
◇ For children under 5 years of age (children/infants), reservation of accompanying adult is required.
◇ Award travel is not permitted on the Restricted Travel Dates. At other times the number of seats available for award travel may be restricted. (Seats for award use may not be available in certain flights or routes.) Please click here for Restricted Travel Dates.
◇ The total mileage required for redeeming awards will be deducted from the JMB account of the applying member.
◇ Members who have registered for the JALCARD Family Program can combine mileage of a main member and a sub-member.
◇ Note on maintaining the required mileage at the time of making reservations
As it is necessary that there is enough mileage available for award exchange at the time of award application, please confirm that there is enough valid mileage for award exchange.
Award reservations will not be accepted if there is not enough mileage in the JMB member account. Mileage accumulated in other airline companies' mileage programs (including JMB partner airlines) cannot be combined with JMB mileage in order to receive awards.
◇ Taxes and handling charges
At the time of using upgrade awards, airport taxes and/or fuel surcharges, insurance surcharges and other surcharges must be borne by the JMB member or users of awards.
The following Airport Passenger Taxes will be necessary on the day of departure for Upgraded tickets from Economy class to Business class since this tax amount differs according to each reservation class.
AIR PASSENGER DUTY : 85GBP/71GBP*1for departure from London.
(Payment is not applicable to upgrades from Premium Economy class to Business class.)
*1 Tickets issued on/after March 22, 2014 for departure on/after April 1, 2015.
[Children under 12 years of age]
Children under the age of 12 will be exempt from payment*2when traveling in Economy but will not be exempt when traveling in Premium Economy or Business. Accordingly, a payment of 142GBP is required for upgrades from Economy class to Premium Economy or Business class.

AIR PASSENGER SOLIDARITY TAX : 40.56 EUR for departure from Paris.
◇ Validity and change of awards
Upgrade Awards are only applicable to the reserved flights. After mileage is redeemed, changes to upgrade award reservations are not permitted. If you wish to change your reservation, you must cancel and refund your existing upgrade reservation and then make a new upgrade reservation. Please note that the mileage reinstatement fee will not apply for the upgrade award.If you cancel and refund your unused upgrade award, the mileage reinstatement fee will not be charged. Mileage cannot be returned if it is expired at the time of the reinstatement request.
Failure to travel on the reserved flight will result in forfeiture of the upgrade award. In this case, miles will not be reinstated.

Seat selection is also handled by the aforementioned JMB Center/ International and Award Reservations Desk of your region.

Mileage Reinstatement Service for unused awards
◇ It is possible for the reinstatement (return) of mileage to the JMB account for completely unused award. Please contact the JMB Center / International and Award Reservations Desk of your region.
The award must be totally unused and that the validity of such awards must not have yet expired. You may request for reinstatement of mileage before the departure of your reserved flights; otherwise, mileage may not be returned to your JMB account.
Mileage cannot be reinstated if it has already expired by the time of reinstatement application.
It will take more than 1 weeks to reinstate mileage to the JMB account after the completion of reinstatement application.
◇ Conditions for the use of awards are subject to change without prior notice.
◇ When flying on the international flights, Conditions of International Carriage will apply.
◇ Please check the validity of your passport and requirement of visa. If visa is required, please obtain visa by yourself.

◇ You may upgrade to the next higher class of service through the JAL website only when reservations for the flights are made directly through Japan Airlines. If your reservations have been made through travel agencies please contact the region's JMB Center or JMB International Reservation Desk.
◇ This service is available only when the following conditions are met:
An airline ticket eligible for upgrade has been issued (purchased).
* If your ticket was purchased online, please use this service after you have the airline ticket or E-ticket passenger receipt on hand.
An airline ticket eligible for upgrade has been booked.
◇ The member whose miles have been redeemed and the traveling companion(s) must be on the same reservation record. (A reservation can be made for up to 9 passengers at the same time, including the relevant JMB member.)
◇ Upgrade awards are available for one-way travel under this service.
◇ Upgrade awards are available for round-trip travel under this service. However, upgraded class of service must be the same for both outward and homeward journeys.
◇ Upgrades are available only by using mileage under this service.
◇ This service may not be available when special arrangements are being requested at the time of booking.
◇ This service is unavailable if upgrade has already been made beforehand.
◇ This service may not be available depending on the means of reservation and/or ticket purchase.
◇ All of the restrictions and conditions of travel for the purchased tickets may apply to the upgrade awards.
◇ You cannot combine 2 upgrade awards to be "bumped up" directly from Economy Class to First Class.
◇ A maximum of 3 flight sectors may be permitted for each one-way upgrade award.
■ Changes to award reservations
